Edge 540

Over the last couple years during the summer we have gotten together with the local hobby shop owner and other friends and flown on Sunday mornings. After one of our Sunday flights I was visiting with the owners wife, Kathy. She asked me to build a plane with their store name on it for her husband, Dale. I decided to copy the graphics on his van so I took a picture of it with my digital camera. Using my computer I found fonts that were similar and colored them to match. I printed them out on 5 year sign vinyl using an ALPS MD-1000 printer. Then just stuck them on.

Here's a picture of the van for comparison.

I always like to test fly a plane before I sell it so I mounted my gear in Dales and flew it. In the process of removing the gear I scratched the flames on the nose so I had to redo them. After I redid the flames I put a layer of clear vinyl over the top of all of the stickers. That will prevent any more mishaps.

Here are a couple pictures of how the wing is mounted. There are wooden dowels run through the leading edge back to the spar. They insert into the firewall. In the back there is a strip of HDPE drilled and tapped for 1/4"x20 plastic bolts.
